MORLEY--Mrs. Joe Colton died Saturday night at Mercy hospital where she has been a patient for several weeks. Funeral service was held at United Brethren church, Tuesday afternoon, 2 p.m. Rev. C. L. Windsor officiated. Obituary next week.

MORLEY--Eunice Erminnie Darrow Colton, oldest daughter of George Washington and Polly Louisa Smith Darrow, was born May 9, 1869 in Cass township, Jones county, Iowa, near Langworthy. Her early education was obtained at Frog Hollow school near their home and later took Freshman year in Monticello high school.

Her school teaching days were spent in Black school in Castle Grove township and the home school. At the age of 19 years Miss Darrow was converted and became a member of Methodist Episcopal church at Langworthy.

In her home Jan. 1, 1894, she was married to Joseph Anson Colton by Rev. J. N. Blogett, Langworthy. To them were born three children, Josie Fern, now Mrs. Earl Pulver; George Stanley, deceased; and Reuben Miles, now in the Army at Camp Pickett, Va.

Mrs. Colton lived in the home neighborhood until the fall of 1913 when they moved to Antioch neighborhood.

It was while they lived there that Stanley was drowned while trying to rescue a chum from Wapsipinicon river. Family lived one year near Mason City, and four years near Dundee. While there Mrs. Colton united with the Wesleyan Methodist Episcopal church.

In 1923 she removed her membership to a church of the same denomination where she remained a faithful member. Mrs. Colton was a firm believer in and a faithful supporter of the Women's Home and Foreign Missianory society of her church.

Coltons lived nine years in Charles City, one year in Viola and the last 10 years in and near Morley. The last few weeks of her life were spent at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, until she passed away, April 17, 1943.

She is survived by her husband, two children, two grandchildren, Merle and Carroll Pulver; five brothers and four sisters as follows: F. H. Darrow, Atlantic; Mrs. Nora Payne, Hopkinton; W. I. Darrow, Anita; J. L. Darrow, Anamosa; E. E. Darrow, Pittsville, Wis.; Miss Adelaide Darrow, Mrs. Grace Benedict, Monticello; Mrs. R. R. Ellison, J. C. Darrow, Anamosa; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Mrs. Colton was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

She was a member of the Morley Aid society.

Funeral service was held at the United Brethren church, April 20. Rev. C. L. Windsor officiated.

Burial was in Antioch cemetery. Pallbearers were: Delbert Smith, Charlie Jay, Otis Siver, Charley Seeger, Ray Embree and Harlan Russell.
