MONTICELLO--Miss Mary Eliza Clark, 88, died at her home here May 6 following a long illness. The oldest daughter of E. F. and Eliza Shaw Clark, pioneer settlers, Miss Clark was born at Woddam's Grove, Ill.

In 1867 the family moved to Anamosa where they operated the Waverly hotel for many years. In 1909 Miss Clark came to Monticello to make her home with a sister, Carrie Clark, and lived here since that time.

She is survived by a brother, Fred Clark, Monticello.

Funeral service was conducted at the family home Wednesday May 8, by the Rev. George Woodall, pastor of the Methodist church of which Miss Clark was a member for more than 55 years. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Anamosa.
