July 11, 1963 - The Anamosa Eureka

OLIN--Edna B. Ohlsen, 77, Olin, died on Sunday, June 30, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 2, at the Hayden Funeral home, Olin. Rev. John R. Schlosser officiated at the service. Interment was in Mt. Hope cemetery, Maquoketa.

Pallbearers included William Reese, Burl McAtee, Walter Laetare, Lloyd Andre, J. H. Ballou and Emery Woods.

Mrs. Leon Stiver was soloist. Mrs. Linda Ballou was organist.

She was born Edna Blanche Baker, March 4, 1887, daughter of Edward and Anna Mary Baker, Iron Hill. She received her education in the Iron Hill and Maquoketa school. In 1908 she was married to Raymond H. Allegar.

Following the death of her first husband she was married Nov. 4, 1913, to Christian Leonard Ohlsen. For a number of years Mr. and Mrs. Ohlsen farmed southeast of Olin. Following the death of her second husband Mrs. Ohlsen moved to town where she was employed as a telephone operator until time of her retirement a few years ago.

Survivors include three daughters, Madge, Mrs. Henry Gottsch, Chicago, Ill.; Marie, Mrs. Lavern Guhl, Mechanicsville; and Velma, Mrs. Robert Fields, Downers Grove, Ill.

Others include three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Ackerman, Olin; Mrs. Leitha Nichols, Clinton, and Mrs. Nettie Amundsen, Portland, Oreg.; and four grandchildren.

She was a member of the Methodist church, a past chief in the local order of Pythian Sisters, and a member of the Olin Friendship club.
