James E. Gray, 57, Jones county farmer, died at his home in Fairview township Saturday afternoon, Jan. 16, following a long illness.

Mr. Gray was born in Wayne township, Dec. 7, 1885, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace W. Gray.

Funeral service was held at the Loder Funeral home, Anamosa, at 10 a.m. Wednesday and at the Amber church. Rev. Carl Windsor, Morley, officiated and burial was in the Amber cemetery.

Casket bearers were Pete Morning, Merle Buckner, Eugene Porter, Jack Husman, Lee Crain and William Folkerts.

He leaves his father, three sons, Ivan, Ottumwa; Russell and James, Anamosa;; a daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Wood, Olin; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Birlingmeier and Mrs. Dora Bradley, Anamosa; two brothers, Charles and Fred, Anamosa; and six grandchildren; an uncle, H. G. Gray, Monticello, and his son, Hubert E. Gray.
