WYOMING--W. N. French died at his home Sunday evening after a four weeks' illness. He was born Oct. 23, 1857 at Canton in Jackson county. He was married to Agnes Orr, Dec. 25, 1878, in Anamosa. Following their marriage the couple moved to a farm near Canton where they lived for two years. They moved to the Manchester community where they made their home until 1882 when they came to Wyoming. They have made their home in and near Wyoming since that time.

Mr. French is survived by his widow and seven children: Mrs. Nellie Huston, Deronda, Wisc.; Mrs. Lilliam Buck, Onslow; Mrs. Grace Hammond, Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Elta Wooder, Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. Beth Marshall, Mrs. Dorothy Marshall and Lester French, Wyoming. Three children preceded him in death. They are Mrs. Mildred Hood and two sons, Ray and Earl.

Mr. French was active in the life of the community for many years. He served as secretary of the Niles school for 30 years and also served terms as director of the school. He held terms as director of the Wyoming Cemetery association and of the Wyoming Telephone Exchange. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.

For many years it has been the custom to have a family re-union each Christmas, their wedding anniversary. Had he lived they would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary this year. Funeral arrangements are pending word from out of state relatives.
