30 September 1943 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral services for S. E. Ireland, 73, who died in Anamosa Thursday afternoon, Sept. 23, were held at the Beam and Miller Funeral chapel Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Sammie Weaver, pastor of Fairview church, officiated at the service. Casketbearers were Frank Cooper, Sam Binley, Don Meredith, Carl Ketelsen, Peter Morning, and Frank Moss. Burial was at Green cemetery.

Schuyler Elmer Ireland, son of Purviance and Rebecca Ireland, was born near Morley, Dec. 15, 1869. He was making his home in Anamosa at the time of his death.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Hattie Ireland, one sister, Mrs. Hattie Leek, Armour, S.D., and seven children: Elmer R. Ireland, Center Junction Delmar D. and Howard L. Ireland, Madison, Wisc.; Hubert C. Ireland, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Maude Kollenbach, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Mable Rowland, Cedar Rapids; and Mrs. Glen Gobbert, Muscatine. Other survivors include 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
