CENTER JUNCTION--Funeral service for Mrs. Elmer A. Andrews, 56, who died at her home southwest of Center Junction at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, was held from the Presbyterian church last Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. F. G. Tyrrell officiated. Vocal music was provided by Lyle Thompson and Miss Dorothy Dreibelbis, with Mrs. Arthur Wilcox accompanying them.

Burial was in North Madison cemetery. Casket bearers were Kenneth Serbousek, Carl Underwood, jr., Norman and Norton Serbousek, James Otten and Dean Mead, all nephews of the deceased.

Phoebe Ellen Mead was born in Maquoketa, Jan. 22, 1887. She was the oldest of the 12 children of Mr. and Mrs. James Mead, and most of her life was lived in this county.

On Aug. 7, 1913, she married Elmer A. Andrews and they made their home on several farms in this community. Four children were born to this union, two dying in infancy.

Survivors include Mr. Andrews, two children, Richard and Mary Ellen at home, her parents, five sisters, Mrs. Alice Preston and ... Mrs. Mabel Otten, Scotch Grove; Mrs. Rachel Dodge, Cedar Rapids; and Mrs. Mary Underwood, Anamosa. Six brothers also survive: Robert Mead, Kansas City, Mo.; William and Joe Mead, Center Junction; Louis Mead, Sumner; and Howard and Harold Mead who are both serving in the armed forces.

Mrs. Andrews was a member of the Presbyterian church and served as president of the church guild for many years. She was also a member of the Rebecca lodge.
