The Monticello Express, Monticello, Iowa, Thursday, December 1st, 1898

Mrs. Catherine Clark, widow of Joshua Clark, died last Thursday night at the home of Mr. Leslie Orcutt, where she has had a home during the last 12 years, Mrs. Orcutt, a sister of Mr. Ed. Kohl of this city, being her granddaughter. The funeral services were held at the residence, last Saturday at 1 o’clock, Rev. David Street officiating, and interment was had in the cemetery at Moore’s school house in Castle Grove. Mrs. Clark was born in Harrisburg, Penn., Oct 13th, 1810. She was married to Rev. David Todd, a Presbyterian minister who died in Holton, Kansas. Mrs. Clark was afterwards married to a Shaffer and later to Joshua Clark, both of whom are deceased. Of her family of nine children, only four are living. She was an earnest and pious member of the Evangelical Church from her childhood, and after an illness of nine months during which she was entirely helpless, she died in her 89th year.
