Funeral service was held Thursday at Smykil's funeral home in Anamosa for James Gordon Bennett, 55, former Anamosa resident, who died Monday at the state hospital at Independence. Rev. W. T. Boston, Olin, officiated at the rites. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.

Mr. Bennet was a lifelong resident of Jones county until the time of his committment, though he visited in Europe for about eight years and worked as a trainer of horses there.

Mr. Bennett was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bennett, former prominent residents of Cass township. He lived in Anamosa for a number of years after his folks moved there from the farm.

Survivors are one brother, Fred Bennett, Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Mrs. Alta McCormick, who lives in California.
