CENTER JUNCTION--Charles Moncrief, 66, life-long resident of this community, died in his home west of Center Junction at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, following an illness of three years.
Charles Moncrief was the son of William and Matilda Carson Moncrief, born Dec. 27, 1973, on the farm where he died. The deceased was a farmer and stock-buyer for over 40 years. He was associated with his brothers, Sam and Robert, the "Moncrief Bros." being well known in this part of the country for their livestock activities.
He never married and is survived by three brothers, Sherman, Idaho Falls, Ida.; Sam and Robert at home and two sisters, Maggie Rice, Monticello, and Belle Dodsen, Center Junction. Two brothers, Will and George preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Scotch Grove church with the Rev. F. G. Tyrrell officiating. The hymns were sung by S. G. Thompson, Dorothy Driebelbis, Grace Mead and Harry Alyea, accompanied by Mrs. Truman Stanton.
Burial was made in the Scotch Grove cemetery, the following active as pallbearers: Ray Sanford, Charles Nelson, Irving Eiler, Grey Driebelbis, Frank Dawes and John Hinrichs.
