OLIN--Funeral service for Mrs. Elmira Dowden, 83, one of Olin's oldest citizens who died Thursday, Sept. 3, was conducted at the Methodist church in Olin Saturday. Service was read by Rev. W. Strait.

Mrs. Dowden was born May 11, 1859, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Glock, then living about three miles south of Olin. She and her seven brothers and sisters grew up in the Olin vicinity. In 1875, she was married to Zephaniah Dowden and made their home in the Olin vicinity except two years.

Couple had two children, Mary, now Mrs. Glick, Lost Nation, and a son, Irvin, Cedar Rapids. Mr. Dowden preceded her in death in 1936.

Besides her two children she is survived by one sister who is 91 years of age living at Stuart; three grandchildren Hazel Coulter, Lost Nation; Francis Eggers, Bellevue, and Arthur Dowden, Redding, Calif. There are also three great grandchildren, Alice Jansen, a nurse in training at Clinton; Phyllis Ann Dowden, Redding, Calif., and Jimmie Eggers, Bellevue.
