OLIN--Samuel Lewis Tarbox, 85, Olin, died Saturday, Aug. 26, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 28, at Campbell Funeral home, Olin. Donald R. Maire, Monticello, officiated at the service. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

Pallbearers included grandsons, Richard Tarbox, Samuel Tarbox, Everett Custis, Michael Tarbox, Charles Bieber and Robert Lincoln.

Richard Frazier was soloist and was accompanied by Mrs. Leon Stivers.

He was born Nov. 17, 1875, son of Edgar and Mary Perry Tarbox, on a farm north of Olin. He had spent most of his life in and near Olin. Jan. 1, 1895, he was married to Elnora May Knight, Anamosa.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Garnet, Mrs. William Custis, Anamosa; two sons, Ray and Lewis, Olin; one brother, Earl, Moline, Ill.; 31 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four daughters, Mrs. Golden Grazier, Mrs. Rena Fitzpatrick, Jennie and Dorothy Tarbox; one sister and two brothers.
