ONSLOW--John Dennison Young, 84, died last Thursday.

Funeral service was held in the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Frank Schroeder in charge. Casketbearers were Leonard Hayes, Paul Kankle, James Kennedy, Frank Starry, Dillon Hall and Ray Chaplin. Mrs. Murial Bissell sang "Gathering Home", "My Ain Countree" and "Ivory Palaces," accompanied by Mrs. Leonard McKinstry. Burial was made in the Bethel cemetery.

Survivors are: a sister, Mrs. Sarah Shaw, Seattle, Wash., and one brother, James, Belle Fourche, S. Dak. Two brothers, William and Albert, preceded him in death.

He was born Aug. 9, 1857, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young. Mr. Young had spent his entire life in Jones county. On April 4, 1882, he was married to Miss Emma Hamilton. Home was established in Clay Mills and later they resided on several farms in this vicinity and near Monticello.

They became parents of three children, Jessie May, the eldest passed away at the age of three years. Two surviving daughters are Mrs. Ina Jansen and Mrs. Velma Nielsen.

In 1915, Mr. and Mrs. Young moved to Onslow, where the latter died April 19, 1916. Mr. Young continued his residence here but on Feb. 8, 1920 he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he never full recovered.

He was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian church.

Surviving beside those formerly mentioned are: three granddaughters, Emma and Leola Nielsen and Mary Clare Jansen; three grandsons, Donald and Daryl Jansen and Dale Nielsen; and two infant great grandchildren, Jeralyn Jean and Gary Lee Jansen.
