October 18, 1962 - The Anamosa Eureka

VINTON--Mrs. Joseph G. Vermedahl, Vinton, former resident of Anamosa, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Virginia Gay hospital, Vinton, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m., at the Bethlehem Lutheran church, Vinton. Rev. Melvin T. Peterson officiated at the services. Campbell Funeral home, Vinton, was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery, Vinton.

She was born Lura Emily Hanna, Jan. 22, 1904, daughter of Homer P. and May E. Allen Hanna, Anamosa. She attended Anamosa schools, Cornell college, Mount Vernon, and Cedar Rapids Business college.

She was married to Joseph G. Vermedahl on Jan. 25, 1941, at Charles City. She had been engaged in secretarial work in Anamosa before her marriage, and had worked six years in the Hardin county Abstract office, Eldora.

She had made her home in Eldora, Mason City and Geneseo, Ill., before moving to Vinton four years ago. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran church, Vinton, and had been the church organist and director of the Junior choir. She was a member of the Woman's club and Music club.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Joseph E. and David H., at home; and one sister, Mrs. Wilma Russell, Tacoma, Wash., formerly of Anamosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a half sister.
