OXFORD JUNCTION--Final rites were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Hayden Funeral home for Joe Benhart, 83, retired farmer who died Friday afternoon at his home at Oxford Junction.

Service was in charge of Rev. Fred J. Abele, pastor of the Evangelical church, Lowden. Music was furnished by Mrs. Fred Sacora, Mrs. Fred Lasack and Eva Juehring, with Mrs. Louis Mizaur as accompanist. Serving as casket bearers were John Buresh, Joe Buresh, jr., Fred Buresh, Otto Benhart, Charles Benhart and Frank Benhart. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

Joe Benhart was born Jan. 23, 1859, in Bohemia and came to America when a boy of 16 years to Oxford Junction where other relatives had preceded him. On Jan. 25, 1886, he was married to Anna Rula and together they farmed south of Oxford Mills for 33 years. They retired to the present family home here in Oxford Junction where they have lived for 25 years.

Mr. Benhart is survived by his wife and six children--three sons, Albert, Davenport, and Joe, jr., and Vit, Oxford Junction; three daughters--Mrs. Mary Michalek, Chicago; Mrs. Melvin Dalezal, Wyoming and Mrs. Melvin Andre, Toronto; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
