Services were held April 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church, Oxford Junction for George A. Chapman. Burial was in the Mayflower Cemetery.

Mr. Chapman died at Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa on April 1. He was born June 1, 1907 in Minnesota to James and Angela Preston Chapman.

He attended public schools in Minnesota and later moved to Conover, Wisc., where he graduated from high school. He moved to the Oxford Junction area in the early 1930's.

George married Luella Leslie April 13, 1937, in Osage, Iowa. The couple lived in Wisconsin for two years before returning to Oxford Junction. He was employed by Clinton Engine Corporation at Maquoketa for 22 years. Chapman was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Oxford Junction.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John (Elaine) Yock of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Dale and James, both of Eldridge, Iowa and Donald of West Columbia, Texas; two grandchildren, a brother, Ed Chapman of Oxford Junction; and five sisters, a twin sister, Georgia Jamison of Poway, Calif., Beulah Leslie of Oxford Junction, Leona Kersten of Dysart, Iowa, Ester Irey of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Irene Skinnes of Grants pass, Ore.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Casket bearers for the service were Ken Yock, Mike House, Don Martin, Ken Schoenthaler, Leland Toerber and David Vacek.

Hayden Funeral Home was in charge of the services.
