May 24, 1962 - The Anamosa Eureka

OLIN--Mrs. Ella Grassfield, Morley, 91, died Thursday, May 17, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a lingering illness.

Prayer service was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edna Zaruba, Olin, at 2:15 p.m., Sunday, May 20, followed by services at the Campbell Funeral home, Olin, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of the Olin-Morley E.U.B. church, officiated at the services. Interment was in Green Center cemetery.

Pallbearers, all grandsons of Mrs. Grassfield, included Everett Russell, Merle Zaruba, Charles Junior Seeger, Robert Seeger, David Grassfield and Dr. Thomas Schunerman.

Mrs. George Wooder, Morley, was soloist, and was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Myra Duncan. Mrs. Delmar Finley had charge of the floral offerings.

She was born Ella Eudora Robb, Aug. 4, 1870, daughter of Benjamin and Catherine Munsinger Robb, Jones county. She had lived her entire life in Jones county.

March 4, 1892, she was married to Jerry Grassfield at Anamosa. She lived on the family farm northwest of Olin until 1920 when she moved to Morley to make her home.

Survivors include a son, Ray, Onslow; five daughters, Mrs. Grace Seeger, Morley; Mrs. Edith Russell, Mechanicsville; Mrs. Hazel Ferguson, Lisbon; Mrs. Edna Zaruba, Olin, and Mrs. Wilma Hart, Arnolds Park.

Others include 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother.
