Services were held for Rhinehart Dirks, 72, May 1 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery, Monticello. The Rev. Harvey O. Gilbertson officiated at the services.

Mr. Dirks died April 28 in the Senior Home, Monticello, where he had been a resident the past few weeks.

Rhinehart Dirks was born near Langworthy, Aug. 4, 1909, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerd Dirks. He received his early education in the Langworthy area schools and was a lifetime member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church.

Rhinehart Dirks and Elsie Antons were married in Wayne Zion Lutheran Church Jan. 6, 1932. Following their marriage the couple farmed near Langworthy. The family then moved to Center Junction in 1960 where Mr. Dirks was a maintenance man for the schools for 14 years prior to his retirement.

He is survived by his wife and four children, Mrs. Margaret Gravel, Mrs. Lois Poppe, Mrs. Joyce Osterkamp and Melvin Dirks, all of Center Junction. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, August Dirks of Monticello; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Martensen, Monticello and Mrs. Clara Oltmanns, Anamosa.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, his parents, a sister and four brothers.

Casketbearers were Gerald Dirks, Emil Feldman, Robert Dirks, Eugene Dirks, LaVern Ulferts, Louis Harms, Carl Martensen and Michael Dirks.
