MONTIELLO--Funeral service for Mrs. Helene Katherine Rieken, who died at her home in Monticello last Thursday evening, was held at her home at 1 p.m. Monday and at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church at 2 p.m.

Helene Rieken was born March 23, 1861, at Ockenhausen near Remels Ostfriesland, Germany, to Jonna Van Dieken and Catherine Monk. In 1923 after the first World war she emigrated to the United States and lived with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Bohlsen, Tilden, Neb. She was married to Tobias Rieken Sept. 24, 1829. Her husband died March7, 1936. From that time until her death she lived alone at her home in Monticello.

Survivors are two step-sons and two step-daughters, Mrs. Anna Marxen, Lees Summit, Mo.; Mrs. Mary Gesie, Monticello; Will Rieken, Dodson, Mo.; and John Rieken, Olin. She also is survived by nine grandchildren, two brothers in Germany, Friedrich Van Dieken, Muenster, Germany, and Theodore Van Dieken, Ostfriesland, Germany and one sister, Elsie Weerts, Meadow Grove, Neb.
