SPRINGVILLE--Lewis M. Sherrill died Wednesday of last week at his home near Springville after a prolonged illness.

Funeral service was conducted in the home Friday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Charles B. Willming of the Springville Presbyterian church. Interment was made in the Wyoming cemetery.

Lewis M. Sherrill, son of David H. Sherrill and Elvira Houck Sherrill, was born in Madison township in the old Sherrill homestead near Wyoming, Oct. 15, 1868. He was the youngest of a family of five children, all of whom preceded him in death.

His early life was spent in farming near Wyoming and Anamosa. He was married to Ida L. Brownell, Feb. 21, 1888. Six children were born to them: Ray, who died in infancy, Nina Lucille, Lee Martin, Clayton David, Mildred Elvira and Mary Alice.

Mrs. Ida Sherrill died, May 8, 1919. In 1925 he married Miss Lillie Reid. They lived in Anamosa where he followed the painter's trade. In 1929 they moved to the Reid homestead near Springville where they have resided since.

Mr. Sherrill is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillie Reid Sherrill and his children, Mrs. Harvey Willison, Anamosa; Lee Sherrill, Clayton Sherrill and Mrs. Hans Mohr, Wyoming; and Mrs. Claude Stroud, Anamosa. There are six grandchildren: John Lewis Willison, Mrs. Lorraine Willison Otte, Mrs. Helen Mohr Sobotka, Mrs. Betty Mohr Wigger, Jimmy Mohr, and William D. Stroud, who is serving in the Army. There are two great grandchildren, Allen H. Otte and Bonnie Lou Wigger.
