Aleta A. Paul, 85, passed away Monday, May 19, at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa. She was born near Wyoming on February 10, 1895, the daughter of Nathan and Clara Parsons Countryman.

She married Herman Schmidt in 1915. She married Maynard Peck in 1919, and in 1942 she was married to Neal Paul.

Aleta has lived all her life in and around Wyoming until failing health forced her to move to a residential care center in Maquoketa.

She was a member of the Wyoming Methodist Church, an honorary member of the Wyoming American Legion Auxiliary of which she was a past president.

She is survived by one son, Howard Peck, of Wyoming, one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Scott of Bellevue, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two sisters and three brothers.

Services were held on Thursday, May 22, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hayden Funeral Home in Wyoming with burial in the Wyoming Cemetery. Rev. Loren Simpson officiated. Pallbearers were Mike Franzen, Kevin Lindley, Duane Peck, Clifford Dirks, Norman Wilslef and Raymond Dusanek. Organist was Mrs. Richard Pace.
