February 8, 1962 - The Anamosa Eureka

Mrs. Gerhard Moenck, 85, Anamosa, died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, Feb. 6, at her home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran church, Anamosa. Rev. LaVerne Beener will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Wayne cemetery, Monticello. Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa, is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers include Carl Wehling, J. H. Siebels, Hank T. Siebels, Carl Siebels, Howard Soper and Carl Ortgies.

She was born Hermine G. Moenck on Dec. 6, 1876, daughter of Gerd J. Moenck and Hilke Hemighoss Moenck, Germany. She was married June 11, 1889, to Gerhard Moenck, at Wayne Zion Lutheran church.

Couple made their home on farms near Langworthy and Anamosa before moving to Anamosa in 1936.

Survivors include her husband, Gerhard; one son, George Moenck, Anamosa; one daughter, Margaret, Mrs. Conrad Poppe, Anamosa; ten grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Arthur; two children in infancy; two brothers and four sisters.
