Funeral rites for Tice Irvin Platner, 73, were held Sunday afternoon. Mr. Platner died at Mercy hospital last Friday following a heart attack suffered Thursday.

Burial was made at Olin. Rev. Homer E. Dalrymple conducted funeral services from Smykil funeral home.

Pioneer resident of Jones county, Mr. Platner, son of John W. Platner and Martha Kimball Platner was born Oct. 11, 1869 in Madison township.

He was united in marriage to Clara Glenn of Olin on Nov. 9, 1890. She preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 1935.

Surviving are four children, Stanley Glenn Platner of Davenport, Milton Marion Platner of Anamosa, Mrs. H. B. Hanken of Olin and Mrs. Presley Hanna of Anamosa.

Eight grandchildren also survive.

Until 1930 Mr. Platner lived on a farm in Jackson township. He was a member of Anamosa lodge Modern Woodmen of America and for many years served as a special police officer in Anamosa.

Casket bearers were H. E. Bray, J. Byerly, Henry Dorgeloh, Dan James, Owen McGuire and James Stivers.
