27 June 1940 - The Anamosa Journal

OLIN--Funeral service was held Wednesday at the Olin Methodist church for Carl John Price, 60, who died at his home in Anamosa Sunday evening.

Rev. J. K. Delahooke, pastor of the Methodist church in Anamosa, was in charge of the service. Burial was made in the family lot at the Olin cemetery.

Casket bearers were Robert Anderson, Ray Purcell, Verne Purcell, Ernest Hubbard, Ted Brickley and T. Taylor.

Mr. Price, son of John and Amelia Price, was born at Olin, Iowa, April 25, 1880.

His entire life was spent near Jones county. He had lived in Springville, Martelle and Olin, and for the last five years in Anamosa, where he was employed as foreman and guard at the state reformatory.

On December 27, 1903, Mr. Price was married to Miss Leona Packer, Union. One daughter, Mrs. Helen Groth, Olin, was born to the couple.

Mr. Price was a member of the Masonic lodge and the Eastern Star at Springville; a member of the United Brethren church of Olin. Since moving to Anamosa, he was associated with the Methodist church.

Survivors are his wife, and daughter, Mrs. Helen Groth, and many other relatives, most of whom live in Jones county.

During the past winter, Mr. Price had an attack of the flu, and after returning to work for a time he sustained a set back. Last week he was again forced to lay off from his work, and on Sunday he took a turn for the worse.
