OLIN--Funeral service for Mrs. Nora Landis, 70, who died Tuesday morning at Mercy hospital in Anamosa, were held Friday afternoon at the Antioch church, with Rev. Cecil Miller, Olin, conducting the service. Burial was in Antioch cemetery. Loder Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers were Tom Hanlon, J. C. Stivers, J. E. Porter, Lee Crain, Andy Nielsen and Clarence Grafft.

Born Feb. 15, 1870, in Jackson township, Jones county, Mrs. Landis was the daughter of Alvin and Emarilla Byerly. Her mother died when she was only about 18 months old while the family lived briefly in Kansas. She lived the rest of her youth and most of her adult life in the Antioch community attending Antioch church while she lived with her grandparents.

She married John Landis on Sept. 8, 1891, and they farmed near Antioch after their marriage. Later they moved to Anamosa where they lived until his death in 1925. Since that time, she had made her home most of the time with her daughter, Mrs. Hollis Ford, Olin. She joined the Methodist church in Olin last Easter.

Mrs. Landis is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ford, and a son, Miles Landis, Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Joe Byerly, Anamosa; a sister, Mrs. Jenny Fleming, Maquoketa; a half-brother and a half-sister and her stepmother, Mrs. Ella Byerly, Fredonia, Kan. She also is survived by two grandchildren, Jean Ford McCrea, Buffalo, N.Y., and Clair Ford, Olin.
