OXFORD JUNCTION--Joseph Barto, 76, died Tuesday, July 18, at his home five miles northeast of Oxford Junction, following a lingering illness. Body was taken to the Wallace Funeral home, Wyoming.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 20, at 1:30 p.m., at the Methodist church, Oxford Junction. Dr. E. A. Piper, of the Lutheran church, officiated at the service. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

Pallbearers included John Zamistil, Lawrence Kuehl, Melvin Stevensen, Vince Lasack, Ford Cram and Richard Wink.

Hymns were sung by Mrs. Otto Koranda and Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen. Mrs. Fred Lasack was organist.

He was born June 12, 1885, at Baldwin, son of Peter and Mary Kopsa Barto, and had lived all his life in the Oxford Junction community. Sept. 21, 1908, he was united in marriage to Julia Beranek, Oxford Junction. Couple lived in Oxford Junction for 20 years. In 1927 they started farming, and he had remained on this farm until his death. Mrs. Barto died in 1953.

He was a member of the Z.C.B.J. Bohemian lodge and of the Knight of Pythias and the Methodist church.

Survivors include one son, Howard, at home; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Fred Barto; and a sister, Mrs. Emma Pope, Marion.

Beside his wife he was preceeded in death by two sons, one in infancy, and Fred in 1949; two brothers and two sisters.
