28 March 1963 - The Anamosa Eureka

Nick Ehler, 72, Anamosa, died Sunday, March 24, at the Johnson Nursing home, Monticello, following an illness of several weeks.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 27, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran church, Anamosa. Rev. LaVerne Beener conducted the service. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery. Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa, was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers included Edwin Stiffler, Everett Mayberry, Carl Ulferts, Rex Heiken, Budd Cook and Leslie Toenjes.

Mrs. Ivan Fiedler was soloist. Mrs. M. W. Frederick was organist.

He was born May 29, 1890, son of Nicolas Ehler and Gertrude Harmsen Ehler, Hinrichsedorf, Germany. He came to the United States in 1913.

He was married to Matilda Luckstead on Feb. 23, 1916, at Wyoming, Iowa. Couple made their home on farms in the Wyoming and Anamosa vicinities.

Survivors include his wife, Matilda; one daughter, Wilma, Mrs. Loren Bronemann, Monticello; one son, George Ehler, Anamosa; two grandchildren, Gary and James Zimmerman.

Others include one brother, William Ehler, Boscobel, Wisc.; two sisters, Mrs. George Luckstead, Wyoming, and Mrs. Lucinda Krohn, Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
