OXFORD JUNCTION--Bodies of Second Lieutenant Charles Edwin Leffingwell, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Leffingwell, Oxford Junction, and John Winston Graham, Roslyn, N.Y., who were killed in an airplane crash Sunday near Point Loiza, Puerto Rico, were recovered from the sea Tuesday night.

Accident occurred when one wing of their plane struck the water when they swept too low during maneuvers.

Tuesday, when navy and coast guard were still searching for his body, Mr. and Mrs. Leffingwell received a letter from their son jubilant at the prospect of a furlough, his return to the United States in a bomber and his arrival at his home on Oct. 20.

Lieutenant Leffingwell received his commission as a flight lieutenant in the regular air corps of the United States army on Aug. 13, 1940. He was then a member of the 27th reconnaissance squadron in Puerto Rico.

He was graduated in 1938 from the college of pharmacy at the University of Iowa and shortly afterwards went into training at Kelly field, San Antonio, where he was graduated in August, 1939. He has been in Puerto Rico since his graduation.

He was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Oxford Junction, and is survived by his parents, a sister, Mrs. L. C. Hodoval, and a grandfather, Charles A. Leffingwell, all Oxford Junction.
