WYOMING--Funeral service for W. G. Wherry, 76, who died Tuesday evening in his home, was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday from the Methodist church in Wyoming. Because the local pastor, Rev. R. C. Scott, was absent, at the church conference, service was in charge of Rev. Frank Jamison, Monmouth, Ill., and Rev. Roy Jamison, Burlington, nephews of Mrs. Wherry.

Wallace G. Wherry, son of the late J. W. Wherry, was born on a farm near Wyoming April 3, 1865. He spent his boyhood here and attended the Wyoming schools. On March 16, 1886, he married Miss Alice Pattison. For a time he conducted a livery business in Wyoming and for some years he farmed. In 1914 they retired to Wyoming. In 1916 he was elected vice-president of the First National bank, taking over the office of president in 1927, retaining this position for 25 years until the merger with the Citizens State bank. Until his illness he served as collector for the Iowa Electric Co.

He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Marie Cullen, Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren; and one sister, Miss Lyda Wherry, Wyoming. Two sons, Raymond and Harold, preceded him in death.
