8 August 1918 - The Anamosa Eureka

Thompson Brickley was born in Guernsey county Ohio, Aug. 24, 1845, and died at 1 a.m., July 22, 1918, at his home in Olin, of complications. At the age of only 18 months he was attacked severely by disease and left crippled for life, but struggled bravely throughout his life and fought a good fight, being given four more years than the allotted threescore and ten. In the fall of 1856 he left with his parents to move to Iowa. He was converted in an old fashioned revival at Pleasant Valley in the winter of '59 under the ministrations of Rev. Ashel Bronson, a well known pioneer preacher and joined the Methodist church. Save for eight months spent in South Dakota his home had since been on the farm near Olin until 11 years ago when he moved to Olin. He married Evaline Ish at Pleasant Valley, and to them were born two sons, Martin and Ralph, and two daughters, Mrs. Libbie Austen and Mrs. Eva Barton, of Plankinton, S.D., all of them living to mourn his loss.
