28 February 1963 - The Anamosa Eureka

Emeroy R. Bowen, 61, Anamosa, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, at a Cedar Rapids hospital, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. J. Ellis Webb officiated at the service. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Anamosa.

Pallbearers included George T. Hall, Don Eichelberger, Harold Heefner, Don Gustafson, William Folkerts and Verne Stover.

Masonic services were conducted by Anamosa lodge No. 46 A.F. & A.M.

He was born Aug. 23, 1901, son of Ralph Bowen and Mary Southard Bowen, Prophetstown, Ill. He was married Feb. 16, 1941, to Marjorie Humpal, Anamosa, at the Anamosa Methodist church. Couple had lived their married life in Anamosa.

He came to Anamosa in 1938 and was employed as an engineer for K. R. Brown Engineering. Since January 1946 he had worked as an engineer for Maquoketa Valley Rural Electric Cooperative, Anamosa.

He was a member of Anamosa lodge, No. 46, A.F. & A.M.; Mt. Moriah chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Mt. Sinai chapter, Mt. Olivet Commandery, Swasford council No. 28 R.S.M.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, two daughters, Elaine, at home; Patricia, Mrs. Lawrence Powell, Luana; one granddaughter, one brother, Burt, Polo, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Stackpole, Polo, Ill.; Mrs. Rosa Sowell, El Monte, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
