Final rites for Ed Chipman, 70, who died Tuesday morning at his home following a heart attack, are being held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Smykil funeral home with Rev. J. K. Delahooke officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.

Casket bearers are Martin Bray, J. C. Porter, Dan Meredith, Ray Carroll, Clarke Joslin and George Beaman.

Mr. Chipman was born April 10, 1871, in Louisville, Ky., and came to Iowa with his parents as a child. He was married Jan. 9, 1895, to Maude Sprowl in Creston and in 1901 Mr. and Mrs. Chipman moved to Anamosa where Mr. Chipman was employed at the Men's state reformatory.

Later they moved to Monticello and Maquoketa where Mr. Chipman served as manager of the telephone companies in those two cities.

He returned to Anamosa in 1910 as manager of the Iowa Electric Co., and from 1912 to 1924 operated a garage here. In 1924 he purchased the building now known as the Chipman building and operated an auto accessories store there until 1931 when he retired.

He is a member of Modern Woodmen of America and at one time belonged to the Knight of Pythias.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. G. R. Wilkinson and Mrs. Jack McCullough; two sons, Howard and Clyde Chipman, all Anamosa; four brothers, Walter, William, Richard and Lee, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Cretors, all Boise, Idaho.
