OLIN--Milen E. Burgess, 87, Olin, died Saturday, May 20, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 23, at the Chapman Funeral home, Clarence. Gordon Smith, Clarence, officiated at the services. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walter Laetare, Arno Lawson, Bliss Switzer, Raymond James, Louis Ludeman and Arthur Ropa.

Mrs. Leroy Wendt was soloist.

He was born Oct. 13, 1873, son of James and Lavina Burgess in Jones county. He was married April 14, 1898 to Nellie Lommis.

Survivors include two sons, James A. Burgess, Lone Rock, Wisc.; and Charles E. Burgess, Olin; one daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. Herman Wendt, Mechanicsville.

Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Etta Belding and Mrs. Blanche Allen, DeKalb, Ill.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Wright, who died in infancy; two brothers and three sisters.
