Funeral services were held for Charles F. Vacek, 63, of Oxford Junction on Monday, June 4, at 1:30 at Hayden's Funeral Home. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. Officiating clergyman was the Rev. Ramon Booth of Cedar Rapids.

Pallbearers at the service were Junior Koranda, James Vacek, Robert Buresh, Joe Buresh, Virgil Behrends and Vernon Vacek.

Mr. Vacek was dead on arrival at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa, on Saturday morning, June 2.

He was born on October 24, 1915 on a farm southwest of Oxford Junction, the son of Mike and Christina Slouha Vacek.

After graduating from Oxford Junction High School, he worked for a time at the Otto Koranda Service Station. He then became a postal clerk in the Oxford Junction Post Office and was appointed Post Master in 1970. He served in this position until 1974, when he retired.

On October 10, 1965 he married Mabel Cook at Coralville.

He was an active member of the Oxford Junction Polka band.

Survivors include his wife, and one sister, Mrs. Frances Buresh, Oxford Junction.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.
