CENTRAL CITY--Sharon Stanley Smith, 72, Central City, life-long resident of Linn county, died Sunday, April 30, at his farm home following a lingering illness. He had observed his 72nd birthday the day before his death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 3, at 2 p.m., at the Methodist church, Springville. Interment was in the Springville cemetery. Rev. J. Ellis Webb, Anamosa, officiated at the service.

He was born and reared on the farm home of his parents, William K. and Rachel C. Smith, just two miles northeast of the town of Springville. He was married to Eva Belle Hart on Jan. 28, 1913. One daughter, Bethel, was born to this union. She died in infancy.

Four children were taken into the Smith home to live including Frank Smith, nephew, now of Davenport; Theone Beryl Smith, who died at the age of two years; Vera Maxine Tatro, now of Cedar Rapids, and Carrol James Smith, San Diego, Calif.

He was a member of the Methodist church, Anamosa; Knights of Pythias, Anamosa; and the Masonic lodge, Springville.

Survivors include his wife, Eva; two sons, Frank Smith, Davenport; and Carroll Smith, San Diego, Calif.; Vera Tatro, Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren and one brother, Harry H. Smith, Springville.

Beside his parents and two daughters he was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers, Lorena C., Franklin T., Ellery J., Homer W., and Harvey L. Smith.
