Funeral service for Dr. Elmer Budd Fenton, 59, president of Vigortone company, who died Sunday at his home in Anamosa as the result of complications following a recent operation, was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Turner mortuary in Cedar Rapids. Burial was in the new mausoleum at the Cedar Memorial cemetery.

Born in Fulton, Iowa, Doctor Fenton received his elementary education in Jackson county and was graduated from the Chicago Veterinary college in 1910. He married Ella M. Huffman the same year. Their two daughters, Mrs. Ford Smith and Mrs. Art Swartzentruber, Cedar Rapids, survive.

He practiced veterinary medicine in Olin and Stanwood before going to Cedar Rapids in 1924 where he established the business which later became the Vigortone company, manufacturing prepared livestock and poultry feeds.

He was married in 1931 to Elizabeth Rose Schmidt who survives him.

In 1937 he purchased the old Col. William Shaw place near Anamosa which he modernized. Here he operated a horse breeding establishment. Lover of fine horses, he owned a string of fast harness horses which raced at county fairs throughout the Midwest.

He was a member of the National Stockman's Supply association, the Milking Shorthorn Breeders association, the Palomino Breeders association, the Duroc-Jersey Hog Breeders association and the Iowa Veterinary association. He was at one time assistant state veterinarian. Dr. Fenton also was a member of the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce.

In addition he was a member of St. Paul's Methodist church in Cedar Rapids and of the Knights of Pythias.

Besides his widow and daughters, he is survived by four brothers, Clyde of Wisconsin, Charles, Frank and James, Fulton.
