Funeral services for Mrs. LeRoy Skeels, 52, who died Thursday evening after a long illness, was held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Methodist church. Rev. R. A. Badger, Jesup, and Rev. J. K. Delahooke, pastor of the local church, were in charge. Burial was in the Antioch cemetery.

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Merritt, Mrs. Skeels was born near Olin Aug. 17, 1888. She lived near her birthplace until a young woman and received her education in the county rural schools and at Anamosa high school. She was the oldest of a family of five children.

She was married June 30, 1909, to LeRoy Skeels. Both children born to this union survive. For 20 years Mr. and Mrs. Skeels lived on a farm near Olin before moving Jan. 1, 1930, to Anamosa where Skeels engaged in the oil business.

Mrs. Skeels was a member of the Antioch Presbyterian church and was active in the Pythian Sisters lodge, retiring only last year as worthy matron. She was also a member of the American Legion auxiliary and of the Henke and Social circles of the Methodist church.

She is survived by her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Merritt; her son, Harlan Chester, Monticello; her daughter, Mrs. Helen Eden, Amber; three sisters, Mrs. Inez Condit, Springville; Mrs. Eulalie Rohwedder, Olin, and Mrs. Blanche Brickley, Anamosa; one brother, Harold Merritt, Olin; two grandchildren, Dorothy and Dickie Eden; a son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Carl Eden and Gladys Skeels.

Pallbearers were Lee Brady, Everett Finn, Llolyd Robertson, Harold Hartman, Gene Porter and Lee Bebee.

Mrs. Lloyd Lowry and Mrs. C. B. Jessen sang, accompanied by Miss Marjorie Monroe.
