Nellie Burch, 89, died Thursday, May 10, in Cedar Rapids.

She was born October 4, 1889, at Olin, the daughter of Horatio and Josephine Dayton Clothier.

After graduating from Olin High School in 1908, she attended Iowa State Teacher's College, Cedar Falls. She then taught country school and Olin town school for four years.

On August 14, 1912, she married George Burch at Anamosa. The couple lived at Collins, IA, for 20 years where she was employed at a bank. They then moved to Washington, D.C., where she was employed by the U.S. government. Her husband died in 1949 and in 1965 she moved to Cedar Rapids.

She is survived by a brother Ted Clothier, Olin; two nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, her parents and husband.

Services were held Saturday, May 12, at 1:30 p.m. in the Olin Methodist church with Revs. Clifton Ellerbeck and Edward Peterson officiating.

Burial was in Olin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Willard Hoyman, Arno Lawson, Irvin Hotz, Clifford Batchelder, Donald Lyon and Melvin Ramsey.
