CENTER JCT.--Rev. Abram Alyea, 62, died in his home at Center Junction at 7:55 a.m., Monday, March 2

He was one of four children of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Alyea and was born July 4, 1878, at Litchfield, N.J. At the age of nine years he moved with his parents to Dundee Lake, N.J.

He worked his way through college in order to become a minister. In 1909 he entered the Ohio Northern university at Ada, Ohio. In 1911, he became a student in the Lane Theological seminary, Cincinnati, Ohio, from which he graduated in 1914. He was ordained by the Liha Presbtery in session at Ada, Ohio, April 4, 1914.

After he graduated from seminary he served in the mission fields at Greenleaf and Spring Grove, Minn. In the fall of 1917 he accepted a call to the Center Junction Presbyterian church, where he served four years. His next charges were at Sharon, in the Iowa Presbetery, and Red Oak Grove, in the Iowa City Presbytery.

In 1929, he returned to Center Junction and Scotch Grove, where he worked until April 1, 1940, when he resigned, due to ill health.

On March 3, 1913, he was married to Clara Genevieve Montgomery, Cincinnati, Ohio. They are the parents of seven sons and one daughter, all of whom, with their mother, survive., The children are: Charles, Onslow; Harry, a teacher at Emeline; Peter, Chicago; Robert, with the U.S. Navy; Harold, Clinton; John, student at the University of Dubuque; and Paul and Selma at home. He also leaves three grandchildren and one brother, Peter Alyea, Stroudsbug, Pa. His two sisters preceded him in death.

Rev. Alyea was prominent in civic affairs and was a member of fraternity lodge A.F. and A.M. No. 619 at Onslow.

Service was held Wednesday, March 5, at Center Junction Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Rev. Frank Schroeder, Onslow, officiated assisted by Rev. F. G. Tyrrell, Center Junction. Burial was made at Scotch Grove cemetery with Masonic order conducting the service.

Six older sons, Charles, Harry, Peter, Robert, Harold, and John were casket bearers. Hymns were sung by Lyle Thompson, Dorothy Driebelbis, Rosalie Risinger and Paul Van Buren accompanied by Mrs. T. E. Stanton at the piano.
