Funeral service was held Tuesday in the Smykil Funeral home for Mrs. W. G. McGuire, 78, at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. J. K. Delahooke in charge. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

Hattie Lull McGuire was born in Rome, now Olin, Iowa, April 22, 1862 and died in Fort Myers, Fla., Feb. 28, 1941. In 1865 her parents moved to Anamosa. Mrs. McGuire had a fine contralto voice and was prominent in musical circle of that day.

On June 5, 1889, she was married to W. G. McGuire, Anamosa, and in 1895 the couple moved to Chicago where Mr. McGuire was engaged in the hotel business.

In 1896, a sister, Mrs. W. D. Sheean passed away, leaving a baby girl only a few days old. Mrs. McGuire took the child and cared for it.

For many years the McGuires spent their winters in Florida, where they had a home in Ft. Myers. The remainder of the year they lived in Chicago. Mrs. McGuire was for several years in poor health. She died while visiting relatives in Ft. Myers.

She is survived by her husband, and niece, Carrie, whom she raised; a sister, Mrs. Laura Millard, Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, John Z. Lull, Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
