February 29, 1940 - The Anamosa Eureka

Funeral services are to be held at St. Patrick's Catholic church here at 9 o'clock Friday morning for Mrs. John Brady, who died suddenly at her home in Anamosa early on Wednesday morning. The Rev. P. J. Behan will be in charge of the services and interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery.

Mrs. Brady was a life-long resident of Jones county, and one of Anamosa's best-loved citizens. Julia Chesire Brady was born to John and Mary Chesire on a farm in Jones county, on May 15, 1865. She received her education in the country schools of that period, and at St. Clara's academy, at Sinsinawa, Wis.

On Feb. 11, 1890, she was married to John Brady, and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Feb. 11, this month. Seven children were born to the union, all of whom are living except one son, Edward, who died in Camp Dodge during the World War.

Surviving are her husband, John Brady, and six children: Esther, of Anamosa; John, of Newcastle, Calif.; Dan, Charles and Robert, all of Chicago, and Irene of Hammond, Ind.

Mrs. Brady was a member of the I.F.W. club, and she was a very active worker in all affairs of the Catholic church.
