15 February 1940 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral rites were conducted Sunday for William G. Zimmerman, Anamosa, who died Friday morning at Mercy hospital following a long illness.

Rev. H. L. Buesing was in charge of the service which was held at St. Paul's American Lutheran church in Anamosa. Burial was made at Prairie Hill cemetery in Castle Grove township. Loder Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers were Herman Folkers, Carl Eden, Walter Heiken, Henry Rickels, Carl Bock and Ed Herren.

Mr. Zimmerman was born Feb. 11, 1874 in Wayne township. He was married Feb. 4, 1896 to Rose Machart. Five sons were born to the couple, three of whom survive. Edward died as a soldier during the world war and William jr., died when nine months old.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Zimmerman; sons, Harry, Louis and Stanley, one brother, Fred Zimmerman, Monticello; a sister, Mrs. Gesine Clark, Twin Falls, Idaho; and four grandchildren.
