24 November 1960 - The Anamosa Eureka

OLIN--Funeral services were held for William McCrea on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 8, at the Campbell Funeral home, Olin, with Rev. John Schlosser officiating. Burial was in the Olin cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Goldsmith, Donald Goldsmith, Daryl McCrea, Richard McCrea, Duane McCrea and Robert Glenn.

William Iverson McCrea, born Dec. 8, 1877, was one of four children in the family of Moses and Armilda Norton McCrea, who farmed near Olin. Most of his life was spent in and around the Olin community, where he farmed for a number of years. Moving for a time to Cedar Valley, where he managed a country store, he returned again to Olin where he spent the balance of his 83 years.

Dec. 6, 1900, he was married to Miss Elsie Gallagher and to this union were born four children.

He died at his home on Sunday, Nov. 6, just a month to the day when he and his wife would have observed their 60th wedding anniversary.

He is survived by his wife; their daughter, Ruth, Mrs. Guy Taylor, Anamosa; their three sons: Glenn, Stanwood; Walter, Rochester, Iowa; and Arthur, Davenport; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters.
