OLIN--Jesse Tilden Mershon, 83, Olin, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a lengthy illness.

Prayer service was held at the family home Friday, Oct. 28, at 1:45 p.m., followed by services at the Campbell Funeral home, Olin, at 2 p.m. Rev. Lloyd Dutro, pastor of the Olin E.U.B. church, officiated at the service. Interment was in the Olin cemetery.

Pallbearers included Carl Feddersen, Gilbert Jones, Gerald Lyon, S. R. Sharon, John England and Hans Rohwedder.

He was born Oct. 28, 1876, son of Henry C. and Elizabeth Ann Biggart Mershon, Jones county. When he was about six years of age the family moved to Olin where he grew to manhood and had lived most of the time. He was a butcher and meat cutter and had followed this trade throughout most of his life.

Dec. 21, 1895, he was united in marriage to Ida Belle Murfield, Olin. Four children, three sons and one daughter was born to this union. With the exception of ten years spent in Cedar Rapids Mr. and Mrs. Mershon had lived in Olin throughout their married life.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Cecil, Cedar Rapids; Delmar, Oxford Junction; and Jesse, Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Iva Orr, Grace Diebold and Mrs. Gertrude Gilmore, all of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Karl Mershon, Anamosa; and Claire Mershon, Arnolds Park.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lillian Brown; five brothers and sisters.
