Services were held Sept. 14 for Pastor Maurice L. Gamble, 64, who died Sept. 11 at Onslow.

Rev. Gaylard Hamilton and Rev. Fred Austin officiated at the services at Federated Church in Lisbon, held at 1:30 p.m. Pastor and Mrs. James Steel sang a duet. Betty Studt played the organ.

Pallbearers were James Stephensen, Floyd Saunders, Frank Heath, Alvin Lehr and David Bowers. Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Maurice Gamble was born July 1, 1913 at Mt. Vernon, the son of Ray and Barbara Svoboda Gamble. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. On Dec. 7, 1937, he married Ruth Kirkpatrick at Mt. Vernon.

For over 35 years, Gamble farmed in Linn, Jones and Cedar counties. For the last 15 years, he served in the ministry at Greenes Grove Community Church and at Calvary Baptist Church, Onslow.

He is survived by his wife, Onslow; two daughters, Carol Daubs, Center Point, and Helen Miner, Yates City, IL; one son, David, Mobile, Al; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Louis and Joe, Mechanicsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
