29 March 1962 - The Anamosa Eureka

Emil F. Pillard, 57, Anamosa, died unexpectedly Sunday, Mar. 25.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 28, at 2 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. Robert Cleveland officiated at the services. Burial was in Wilcox cemetery.

Pallbearers included Rolland Brown, Gary Winders, William Wright, Lawrence LaBarge, L. H. McCormick and Louis A. Winchip.

He was born March 31, 1904, son of Henry and Louise Kemling Pillard, in Linn county. Family moved to Jones county where he attended the Anamosa high school.

Later he learned the trade of tree surgeon while attending a school in Kent, Ohio. He spent a year in New York state and with the exception of two years at Ely, lived the balance of his life in the Anamosa vicinity.

He was married Jan. 5, 1930, to Thelma Larson at Galena, Ill.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma; five children, Henry, Chicago, Ill.; Earl, Dallas, Texas; Clara, Mrs. Ray Handel, Anamosa; Priscilla, Mrs. Richard Dreibelbis, Tallahassee, Fla., and Terry, at home.

Others include two brothers, Henry, Lemon, S. Dak., and Frank, Anamosa; two sisters, Theresa, Mrs. Carlos Payne, Anamosa; and Ida, Mrs. Carl Folkers, Scotch Grove; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
