Funeral services for Robert Max Mason, 50, were held Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Olin, in charge of Rev. Fred Richardson. Mason died August 13 at Anamosa. Organist was Mrs. Mervin Chamberlin; Loren Hartwig was soloist.

Burial was in Olin Cemetery. Military graveside services were in charge of Blayney-Miner Post, American Legion.

Casketbearers were Clifford Taylor, Clyde Taylor, Lyle Vernon, Wrenden Fall, Bernard Boots and Donald Starry.

Mason (Boomer) was born July 15, 1928 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Hazel Williams Mason. He graduated from Olin High and served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. For the past 18 years he was employed as a correctional officer at the Men's Reformatory, Anamosa.

He married Vivian Sill, September 18, 1976 at Nashua. He was a member of the Olin Methodist Church, Blayney-Miner Post 412, American Legion, V.F.W. #408, and Olin Fire Department.

Survivors are his wife, Vivian; a sister, Elaine (Mrs. Richard Westphal), Waterloo; two brothers, Lyle of Lake Wood, CA, and Kenneth of Waverly; seven stepchildren and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
