29 July 1960 - The Anamosa Eureka

Funeral services for A. Parke Ogden, life-long resident of the Anamosa area, will be held Friday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at the Congregational church, Anamosa.

Rev. Robert Cleveland will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Goettsch funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Ogden died Tuesday, July 26, at his farm in Cass township.

Casketbearers will be George Brown, George Hall, Galen Brainard, Frank Pillard, Harold Hartman and Verne Purcell.

Born Oct. 10, 1899, at his present home in Cass township, he was the son of Alvin E. and Sarah Ketchum Ogden. He was a graduate of the Anamosa high school and Grinnell college.

On August 15, 1923, he was married to Pearl Lucille Umbenhauer, at Grinnell. He spent his entire life on the home farm in Cass township.

Mr. Ogden was a member of the board of directors of the Maquoketa Valley Rural Electric since it was founded in 1935 to 1951; he was secretary of the Rural Fire association; and was active in the Anamosa Congregational church.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Connie) Howell, jr., Boulder, Colo.; and Mrs. John (Betty) Miller, Anamosa; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife May 25, 1957, and his parents.
