30 June 1960 - The Anamosa Eureka

A. S. Knapp, 81, Anamosa, died Tuesday, June 28, at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 30, at 1:30 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. J. Ellis Webb officiated. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

Pallbearers were Glen Russell, I. J. Hovet, Charles Tyler, Clyde Wilson, Verne Purcell and J. E. Porter.

Masonic services were held by the Anamosa lodge No. 46, of which he was a 50 year member. He served as secretary to the lodge for 35 years before his retirement. He was recently presented a 50 year pin from the lodge.

He worked as a bookkeeper at the Anamosa Lumber Co. for 25 years before retiring in 1949. Since his retirement he had been in the insurance business.

He was a member of the local Methodist church and a Mason in the Anamosa lodge No. 46, and a member of Mt. Moriah chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include one son, Sammy, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude, Sept. 10, 1956.
