30 June 1960 - The Anamosa Eureka

Henry Clinton Smith, 60, Grand Junction, Colo., former Anamosa resident, died Tuesday, June 28, at the Veterans hospital, Grand Junction, where he had been a patient for many months.

Services were scheduled Friday, at Grand Junction.

He was born Aug. 29, 1899, at Viola, Ill. He was a World war I veteran serving from his enlistment in 1917 until the close of the war and was in the Army of Occupation.

In 1922 he was married to Lula Hendrickson. Couple made their home in Anamosa for many years. Their three children were born in Anamosa.

He was a member of the Methodist church and the Veterans of Foreign wars in Anamosa.

Survivors include his wife, Lula; three children, Richard Henry, Golden Valley, Minn.; Eleanor Constance, Mrs. J. W. McClutchan, Crawfordsville, Ind.; and Herbert Lee, Washington, D.C.

Other survivors include his brothers, A. Hazel Smith, Anamosa; Herbert U. Smith, Wellesley Hills, Mass.; his sisters, Mrs. Margaret Salmons, Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. Herschel McKown, Ipava, Ill.; Mrs. Lossie Robb and Mrs. Lula Chase, Burlington; and Mrs. Leslie V. March, Glenwood.

There are also five grandsons, Nicholas Smith, Golden Valley, Minn.; Bruce, Dennis, Brian and Wayne Smith, Washington, D.C.
